Central America: where to go
Costa Rica is a paradise for lovers of nature. The tourists who come here admire the mighty Cordilleras with active volcanoes, lush jungles on the Caribbean coast and unspoilt Pacific beaches with white sand.
The Great Blue Hole is one of the most mysterious places of the coast of Belize. This hole is known thanks to the famous researcher Jacques-Yves Cousteau. It was he who established that a large blue hole is nothing more than a karst limestone cave, formed in the deepening of reef rocks. The place is extremely popular among divers.
Atitlan is the largest lake in Central America, located at the foot of the volcano, which regularly fills up a lake bottom with ashes. Here you can be engaged in kayaking or hiking around the lake at the foot of volcanoes (there are 3 of them). Thrill-seekers can try climb up on a top of volcanoes. Many local guides offer tours to climb to the very top.
For those who are interested in the cultural attractions of Central America, it is recommended to visit the museum Na Bolom in the Mexican state of Chiapas, where you can get acquainted with the culture of the indigenous people of Maya.
Items, which have been found during excavations of the ancient settlements of Cinquilicate, Palenque and Tonina, are exhibited in the spacious halls. The excursion to the Yucatan peninsula – the center of the Mayan civilization, is also rather interesting. In a word, this part of America is an ideal place to have a rest, as here you can see a lot of interesting things in a short time, relax, take a sunbathe and swim a lot.
