Dozens of places for hiking in America
For those who love hiking, miles of road and a camp backpack behind their shoulders, America has prepared a lot of interesting things. Almost every state has several popular and not very tracking routes. For adventurers we prepared several best hiking trails in America.
Best hiking places in America
Rim Trail. This trial will make it possible to admire one of the deepest canyons in the world from the height of its southern slope. All the mazes created by the Colorado River, here as in the palm of your hand. Trail originates from South Kaibab Trailhead in the east and stretches to the Hermits Trailhead in the west.
Rim Trail — 21 km / 13 miles (one way). This route can be traversed on foot or by a free bus, stopping at the points of interest. Or combine both options. This is quite an easy hiking route for beginners.
Angels Landing. One of the most famous and exciting trails of national parks and best hikes in north Аmerica! A route that wants to conquer all those coming to Zion, but not all are solved. Still would! The pride and joy of Zion leads you along a narrow mountain fin with dizzying cliffs on both sides. This narrow crest with deep abysses accepts only the most courageous: climbers scale their large wall, experienced hikers pull themselves behind chains, all the others stand in awe. A lot of fun!
Shoes should be as comfortable as possible, preferably without a hint of slipping. You need to take enough water with you, since you have to sweat. If you are afraid of heights, it is better not to take chances.
Observation Point Trail. The classic Zion route, which should not be missed, will open to you stunning landscapes and dizzying cliffs throughout the entire route! Zigzags of the trail will lift you higher and higher in a rapid (about 1 km) uphill along a steep slope. On the way you will pass through the Echo canyon, filled with water. The end point of the route is above the famous “Shelter of Angels” – it offers a magnificent view of Zion! If you are extremely adventurous, on the way back we propose to roll on the track Hidden Canyon. It passes along the edge of the cliff (this is not liked by those who are afraid of heights). There are no fences here, but in places there are chains hammered into the rocks.
Cordillera Huayhuash. Includes a number of routes in the Peruvian Andes, lasting from 4 to 12 days. Full hike Huayhuash takes 12 days and is considered a classic route of the region.
Located in the Peruvian Andes, south of the Cordillera Blanca Range, only 30 km long, Cordillera Huayhuash is an incredibly compact area of congestion of huge snow peaks surrounded by rivers with cascades of waterfalls, turquoise lakes and valleys with a wide variety of flora and fauna.
Here stands the legendary Yerupaja (6634m), the second highest mountain in Peru, and the other, no less legendary, summit of Siula Grande (6336m). Completely bypassing the whole region, the trail crosses several impressive passes more than 4600 m, two of which are above 5000 m. The classic Cordillera Huayhuash is considered one of the ten best hiking trails in the world and the best hikes in south Аmerica.
Chiaraque. The town of Chiaraque is considered a sacred place by the Aymara people. To get there, we will use the mini bus line 260 or 281 from the Estudiante square. We drive to Barrio Pedregal and then go up the mountain for about 40 minutes. Here you can visit Uriun Uchu or Valle Escondido (Hidden Valley), not far away and the Tooth of the Devil, the height of 3825 meters above sea level. The area is ideal for a day trip.
Upper Yosemite Fall Trail. Yosemite — the highest waterfall in North America and the seventh largest in the world, is one of the main attractions of the famous valley. Water descends down the gray limestone cliffs in three segments. Highlights are the picturesque Upper Falls (altitude 425 m), the so-called Cascades and, finally, the Lower Falls.
The starting point is Camp 4, near the bus stop №7. The length of the route is 7.2 miles / 11.5 km, which is approximately 6-8 hours in both directions. But be careful, the route is tense and includes a climb of 800 meters. Do not be lazy to reach the top, there are amazing views from there!
Pampalarama. The town is located in the Chacaltaya district, 20 km from La Paz. The trip to Pampalarama by taxi takes 45 minutes, there is no public transport. In the place you can go along ecological trails: Pampalarama (4 hours), Wilamankilisani or “Tocando el cielo” (“Touching the Heavens”, 6 hours) and Chacaltaya (full day). Picturesque views to you are provided!
City of trails El Chaltén. The small town of El Chaltén (province of Santa Cruz) is one of the youngest in the south of Argentina, full of magical paths that lead to unspoiled nature. The local tourist slogan says that the routes start at the door of any hotel, and this is true.
In El Chaltén you can enjoy a variety of hiking trails leading to the most iconic places of Patagonia: giant rock towers, towering among the glaciers feeding turquoise lakes, forests and untouched nature.
The peculiarity of this area is that most of the trips along the routes of El Chaltén do not require any previous mining experience, the routes are not too long and not complex. It’s a pleasure to enjoy spectacular panoramic views without much effort.
